Twin Group is an award-winning provider of education, travel, work experience, accommodation, and employment services. We offer a diverse number of life-enhancing services to our clients and every member of our team is essential in achieving this.

We are proud that our summer centres run from 4 to 6 weeks per annum, our students, who are under the age of 18*, come from all over the world, typically staying for 13 nights where they complete a 30-hour English Language Course along with activities on-site, half-day and full day excursions, and evening activities.

Twin Summer Centres are offering residential full-board summer contracts at 8 different UK locations; Canterbury, London Docklands, London Greenwich, London Roehampton, Nottingham, Lincoln, Gloucester, Norwich & Eastbourne.

The Welfare Manager role is a new addition to our 2025 Summer Centres. At Twin Summer Centres we put great emphasis on student welfare and this role will ensure we fulfil our responsibilities when it comes to looking after our students and staff. The Welfare Manager must ensure students’ supervision, welfare and pastoral care is always delivered to a very high standard; train, manage and provide support to the onsite teams including welfare and child protection training and advice. We must comply with our accreditation guidelines at all times.

The Accommodation & Welfare Manager will support the Centre Manager in all areas of running the centre from students arrivals and departures to creating the rooming lists, pastoral duties, supervision, night duty, welfare checks, risk assessments and the emergency plan.

The Accommodation & Welfare Manager will be dynamically managing and carrying out all risk assessments while communicating effectively with all staff and students. They will also have an assistant who will be acting as a Group Leader for individual students, leading excursions and carrying out welfare checks.

Our Activity and Excursion Programme runs from breakfast to lights out for international students under the age of 18* and we provide supervision at all times for our students. The Welfare Manager along with their assistant and the Centre Manager are the vital roles in ensuring all students and staff are pastorally cared for and supported at all times.

  • Some centres may include international high school students who turn 18 before their arrival at the summer centre, there will be appropriate provision and safeguarding measures in place to accommodate them on which you will be fully trained

Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to fully read and understand the job description and job offer before committing to the role
  2. Read and fully understand the Accommodation & Welfare Manager, Student and Group Leader Handbooks. These provide a more comprehensive overview of the responsibilities to which you should adhere, as well as the health & safety information provided to group leaders and students
  3. Attend any training (online or in person) held by the company
  4. Complete the Safeguarding and Prevent online courses. The link is provided in the job offer
During Contract:
  1. Safeguard and promote the wellbeing of all students on site in accordance with our Safeguarding Policy.
  2. Ensure all risk assessments are carried out, completed, read and understood by all staff prior to each activity and excursion and include any extra risks for individual students
  3. Liaise with Activity Manager, Centre Manager and Director of Studies to ensure all staff have access to risk assessments
  4. Live on-site for the duration of the contract on a 6 day per week rotation
  5. Complete the rooming list in line with customer requests and company policies and procedures
  6. Organise the rooming of students in residential centres
  7. Assist in greeting every group arrival and managing every group departure
  8. Ensure appropriate arrival & departure arrangements are made for individual students
  9. Assist in carrying out the daily lights-out walk-around along with the Welfare Manager
  10. Provide the activity team with student registers ensure they bring them back after each activity or excursion and ensure all activity/ excursion registers are kept up to date
  11. Maintain and promote positive student behaviour while maintaining a professional manner at all times
  12. Wearing the Twin uniform at all times whilst on duty and actively ensuring all students and staff are wearing lanyards at all times
  13. Dress appropriately when on duty and off duty (if being around students or clients)
  14. Respond to emergencies
  15. Comply with health and safety at all times
  16. Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the company
  17. Maintain a good name and reputation of Twin at all times
  18. Preparing for student arrivals and departures including meeting and greeting students at the airport
  19. Provide all management staff with safeguarding, health and safety, and fire training during the induction, and ensure appropriate training is delivered to all staff during the onsite inductions
  20. Monitor individual students’ well-being and supervision
  21. Check the centre management are aware of any allergies, dietary requirements, special educational needs or disabilities, and ensure that measures are put into place
  22. Ensure all parental consent forms are received
  23. Ensure Health & Safety standards/procedures are implemented for each tour/activity/event
  24. Ensure incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and necessary documentation is completed
  25. Ensure weekly Fire Drills are carried out and logs are kept
  26. Ensure that individuals’ weekly welfare tutorials are carried out and any issues are immediately addressed
  27. Support centres with day-to-day issues as they arise and apply sensible solutions
  28. Take the emergency phone on a rotational basis and be on call to deal with any phone calls out of hours
  29. Take on the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead within SC, comprising of the following duties:
  30. To undertake all relevant training for Safeguarding and Prevent at level 3
  31. To have a working knowledge of each summer centre's local Safeguarding Partnership
  32. To develop colleague awareness of policies and processes and ensure they are known
  33. To keep detailed, accurate, secure written records of concerns and referrals
  34. To ensure open and listening culture
  35. To understand Prevent Duty and ensure it is met by providing advice and support to colleagues
  36. To support and advise the DSOs and other colleagues in the day-to-day implementation of the policies
  37. To receive information from any staff, volunteers, group leaders, students, parents or carers who have safeguarding concerns and record it
  38. To liaise with colleagues on matters of safety and safeguarding when deciding whether to make a referral by liaising with relevant external agencies
  39. To make a formal referral to a statutory child safeguarding agency or the police
  40. To be ready to respond to any major incidents
  41. Take on the role of first aider
  42. Any other reasonable/appropriate duties
Post Contract: Complete appraisals and end-of-contract feedback.

Education/Qualification: A level or equivalent.

Skills And Experience (Desirable, But Not Essential):
  • First Aid Certificate completed within the last three years
  • Experience of working with under 18s
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Educated to degree level or currently working towards a degree in education, sports science, dance, drama, or any other related qualification
  • Safeguarding training
  • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to speak a second language
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • Sports coaching qualifications
Additional Information
Salary:
UK:
£900 - £1,100 per week in the UK, plus accrued holiday pay of 12% UK depending on the size of the centre. Centre sizes depend on the average number of students per week: Small Centre, 100; Medium Centre, 250; Large Centre, over 250. Each week includes 1 day off.
