Crisis Team

This position will collaborate with the Williamson County Emergency Operations Center and will assist with providing appropriate supports to a variety of behavioral health crisis situations, ranging from low acuity to high acuity. The mental health dispatcher assists in providing phone-based crisis intervention and de-escalation to persons in crisis. This position will be able to partner with law enforcement, the medical community, schools, families, and social services agencies in a collaborative effort to assist persons in crisis. The individual utilizes strong knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and practices of working with individuals experiencing a behavioral health, substance use, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, or co-occurring needs crisis, and can communicate effectively with diverse cultures and socio-economic populations. Position will utilize knowledge of public mental health and community resources to collaboratively safety plan with persons in crisis to access appropriate services. Utilizes a unique set of skills and experiences using integrated computer database programs (multitask to review information in multiple systems while engaging and assessing a person in crisis over the phone). This position will also receive training to support other crisis programs as needed.

This position requires a flexible work schedule and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Location: Williamson County Emergency Communications Center & San Gabriel Crisis Center

Salary: $25.23 – $37.48/hr (base rate includes Williamson County differential)

Applicable Differentials:

  1. Up to $3.50/hour – Previous crisis experience
  2. Up to $2.00/hour – Previous experience in a similar role with a community center
  3. Up to $4.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS
  4. .75/hour – Bilingual
  5. $1.00/hour – Advanced Licensure
  6. $1.00/hour – Master’s Degree in Human Services

Shift Differentials:

  1. Evening Shift: $2.00/hour
  2. Night Shift: $4.00/hour

Minimum Qualifications: Must meet requirements for and obtain the Qualified Mental Health Professional – Community Services (QMHP-CS) certification; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field or 24 course hours in human services if degree is in other field; minimum of two years case management experience; must have Texas Driver’s License and maintain approved driving status throughout employment. Must have skills and experience using integrated computer database programs to access files and document treatment services and the ability to organize and prioritize work assignments.

Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish; Master’s Degree in Human Services
