The General Services Waiter is an entry-level professional responsible for performing support tasks to ensure a positive dining experience, in coordination with the Corporate Services function. The overall objective is to work as part of a team to engage customers, complete tasks efficiently and accurately, and mitigate potential issues and customer complaints.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and serve customers, provide detailed information on menus, perform front-of-the-house duties and collect the bill.
- Provide detailed menu information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies).
- Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations (e.g. parties).
- Inform customers about the day’s specials and offer menu recommendations upon request; upsell additional products when appropriate.
- Take accurate food and drinks orders, using ordering software, order slips or by memorization.
- Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff and check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness/presentation prior to serving; ensure compliance with health department regulations and report any problems.
- Prepare tables in advance by setting up linens, silverware and glasses; maintaining a tidy dining area.
- Deliver check and collect payment.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Food safety training preferred.
- Proven work experience as a Waiter/Waitress.
- Money-handling experience.
- Basic math skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Client service focus.
- Ability to work various shifts.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
