TASK DESCRIPTION: The incumbent of this task will perform I-Level composite structural repair to aircraft parts and components and perform "on aircraft repair" to flight control surfaces.
TASK REQUIREMENTS:
Perform structural repairs to aircraft components and parts.
Perform "on aircraft repair" to flight control surfaces and aircraft skins manufactured from composite/honeycomb cured materials. Materials include, but are not limited to, graphite epoxy, Kevlar, fiberglass, aramid and titanium.
Perform aircraft component modifications.
Assist I Level Structures and Tire Shop when not engaged in composite repairs.
Support OJT and cross training of KAF personnel.
MINIMUM PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of four (4) years of experience at an I-Level airframe repair shop or a depot level structural repair facility, and three (3) years experience in composite repair techniques.
Must have the following:
Corrosion control course with knowledge of corrosion identification and treatment.
A formal composite repair school, and have knowledge of the operation of composite repair temp/vacuum repair sets, the application of composite adhesives, and the special tools required for composite repair.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
USAF, USN, USMC, Kuwaiti, Canadian and Australian Air Force experience is also applicable to these tasks.
