VF Corporation is looking for an exceptional Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our team based in Milan, Italy.

The Telecommunications Network Engineer will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing a global telecommunications infrastructure. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all telephone systems and services, voicemail and PBX communication systems, and video conferencing environments. They will also analyze and resolve telecommunications issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and support user needs where required.
How you’ll make a difference
As Telecommunications Network Engineer, we expect that you will deliver unbeatable results whilst fulfilling the following aspects of the role:
- Manage and administer the entire telecommunications infrastructure and its associated software, including PBXs, call management systems, voicemail, interactive voice response, and video conferencing systems.
- Develop long-range telecommunications development plans in accordance with stated business strategy.
- Design and oversee telecommunications projects with a goal to improving or expanding the current infrastructure (10%).
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for telecommunication systems administration and appropriate use (5%).
- Administer add, move, and change requests from end users as well as new line installations as required (10%).
- Monitor and identify capacity and performance issues for telecommunications traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of telecommunications systems.
- Generate telecommunications usage and inventory reports as required. Conduct testing and develop plans to detect faults, minimize malfunctions, and backup systems (10%).
- Assess the need for any system reconfigurations, minor or significant, make recommendations, and execute them as required (10%).
- Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of telecommunications equipment procurement and development efforts.
- Interact and liaise with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure communications products and services in a timely and professional manner (5%).
- Interact with technical staff to ensure the safe and proper installation of cabling, wiring, and other electrical hardware.
- Provide daily level 2 and 3 support for resolving telecommunication-related issues (30%).
- Provide mentoring and guidance to IT staff on Telecommunication infrastructure.
- Daily ITIL Incident/Service Request Management responsibilities will include troubleshooting telecommunication device issues, documenting troubleshooting steps, and providing status updates to management (20%).
Skills for Success
- 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting midsize to large telecommunication infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline or experience.
- Working technical knowledge of PBX, voicemail, IVR and interactive voice services, call management systems (Tool Free numbers), and telecommunications accounting systems.
- Strong hands-on knowledge and experience of voice and data equipment.
- Working technical knowledge of SIP features and troubleshooting.
- Good working knowledge of VoIP infrastructure including Cisco IOS Voice Gateway, Call Manager, Unity Voicemail, UCCX Contact Center Express.
- Working knowledge of cloud-based VoIP systems such as Webex, Webex Contact Center, and Zoom Phone platform.
- Working technical knowledge of current telecommunications best practices, protocols, and principles.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge designing, installing, and troubleshooting cabling and wiring systems.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively and autonomously in a multi-cultural team and environment.
- Ability to manage simultaneous projects.
- Knowledge of applicable privacy practices and laws.
- Ability to conduct research into telecommunications issues and products as required.
- Cisco Certification such as CCNA/CCNP/DEV are considered a plus.
