Your Purpose

Reporting to the Site Director, the Team Leader, Cabins and Crew Spaces is responsible for inspecting the construction and outfitting of cabins and crew spaces (both technical & common ones) as per the approved design. In this role, you will be controlling the quality of materials, assembling and manufacturing, highlighting any discrepancies with the approved project, suggesting potential adjustments when minor issues are identified and the scope for improvement. You will also be involved in inspecting both guests and crew cabins.

The team leader will also be responsible for managing other colleagues and stakeholders involved in the cabin’s delivery process.

Your Impact

1. Ensures that all cabins (including balconies) are built within the set timescale and in line with the approved architectural design, contractual requirements, and functional requisites.
2. Ensures that crew spaces are built within the set timescale and are in line with the approved architectural design, contractual requirements, and functional requisites.
3. Follows the architectural design implementation and development, maintaining accurate and up to date records of all activities and inspections.
4. Attends project meetings and prepares progress reports.
5. Ensures that all materials used are compliant and in scope with the specifications and the architectural design, and that they are of a suitable quality fit for its intended use, as approved by class.
6. Suggests minor adjustments that may be found necessary on site and follows the implementation and development of any architectural design changes.
7. Highlights relevant aspects of the ship’s architectural design that can be improved for future constructions.
8. Involves the Technical Site Specialist(s) during the construction and commissioning phase to ensure that the technical accessibility and functionality of the equipment is duly verified.
9. Highlights any relevant aspects of the ship’s architectural design that might jeopardise the functional requisites and must be improved for the current project, as well as the future constructions, with the approval of the New Building department.
10. Assists with Plan Approval activities as required.

Your Journey so far

1. Experience with delivering inspections of cabins and crew spaces in shipbuilding or refitting projects within shipyards.
2. Experience onboard cruise vessels in operations, with some leadership experience considered an asset.
3. Familiarity with Marine Rules and International Standards and Regulations.
4. Ability to review new building specifications and drawings, with an understanding of various engineering drawings.
5. Good knowledge of fire, thermal, and phonic insulation is preferred.
6. Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and a ‘can-do’ attitude.

Your Essentials

1. Degree qualified, or equivalent, in Interior Design within shipbuilding; significant relevant experience is required if qualifications are not held.
2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and PowerPoint) and design programs such as AutoCAD.
3. Fluency in English; knowledge of Italian is a plus.
4. Some travel may be required if needed.
