Senior Network & Security Engineer (SO2)

Description

1. The job responsibilities of this Network & Security Engineer role include, but are not limited to:
2. Design, deploy, and manage network solutions for clients, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN configurations, to ensure the reliability and performance of their network infrastructure.
3. Cybersecurity activities, including deploy, configure & manage SIEM, SOAR & Automation solutions.
4. DevOps activities utilising Infrastructure as Code with Python, Ansible and Terraform.
5. Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems and SIEM solutions, to protect clients' network environments from potential threats and breaches.
6. Monitor and optimise network performance, utilising network monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential issues and bottlenecks.
7. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for network/security-related issues, resolving complex network problems to minimise downtime and ensure continuous network availability for clients.
8. Collaborate with the Managed Services team to develop and implement network & security integration strategies for clients, ensuring seamless transitions and efficient network operations.
9. Conduct regular network & security assessments and audits to identify optimisation opportunities, cost-effective solutions, and performance enhancements for clients' network environments.
10. Stay informed about the latest network & security technologies, updates, and best practices, and provide recommendations for leveraging new features and capabilities to enhance clients' network infrastructure.
11. Perform regular penetration testing as required for internal and client systems.
12. Analysing a specific incident from its detection through to developing a containment strategy and executing subsequent remediation plans.
13. Providing crisis management with clients and directing incident investigation and containment activities, including conducting threat hunting activities.
14. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to clients' network configurations, processes, and procedures.
15. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients' network-related inquiries, issues, and concerns, delivering exceptional customer service and support.
16. Assist with scoping and development of client proposals.
17. Collaborate with project teams to deliver customer projects.
18. Act as a mentor to more junior team members.
19. Provide after-hours support when required in emergencies.
20. Attain and maintain relevant qualifications and technical certifications.

Key Relationships/engagements

1. Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific network/security requirements and providing customised solutions to meet their business objectives.
2. Collaborate with the sales and account management teams to provide technical expertise during the pre-sales and post-sales processes, ensuring that proposed network solutions align with clients' needs and expectations.
3. Work closely with the Managed Services team to integrate network solutions seamlessly and ensure efficient service delivery for clients.
4. Engage with network & security vendors and partners to stay updated on the latest network technologies and tools, exploring partnerships that can enhance our service offerings and capabilities.
5. Coordinate with the compliance and security teams to ensure that clients' network configurations adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Proven work experience in managing and maintaining network infrastructure within a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment.
2. Strong expertise in network & security technologies, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and network security protocols. Other areas include:

1. Firewalls (Cisco ASA, FortiGate, Virtual Firewalls, e.g., PfSense, PaloAlto, etc.) - Cisco Networking (Level 2 and 3 support).
2. SD-WAN (Cisco Meraki, FortiGate, etc.).
3. Microsoft Azure Networking (Networking, Firewalls, SD-WAN, Azure Virtual-WAN, ExpressRoute, ARS etc.).
4. AWS Networking (DirectConnect, AWS Networking).
5. Cloud Security & SIEM solutions, such as Blumira and Azure Sentinel.
6. Cloud Connectivity experience (Megaport etc.).
7. Knowledge of Advanced Routing protocols (BGP, OSPF etc.).
8. Network Designs including topologies.
9. Wireless Networking.
10. Strong Experience with Network Firewall, Routing & IPSEC VPNs.
11. Experience in troubleshooting complex network-related issues and implementing secure and scalable network configurations for clients.
12. Familiarity with network security best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients and internal teams to address network-related challenges and requirements.
14. Relevant networking certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, Certified Azure Network Engineer Associate.
15. Relevant cyber certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, Security+ would be highly desired.
16. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to managing and optimizing network environments for clients.

18. Adaptive and able to work under pressure, manage and prioritise multiple tasks.
