Senior Civil Engineer Italy

A major player in the renewable energy industry is looking to strengthen its engineering division in Italy by hiring a Civil Engineer for its Technical Office team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality civil design for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. The position covers both conceptual and detailed design phases and offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment committed to sustainable infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review civil engineering plans, technical specifications, and reports for renewable energy projects.
• Provide design input and technical support during the permitting phase of solar PV and BESS installations.
• Verify, review, and comment on civil and structural engineering deliverables related to project execution.
• Perform or review geotechnical and hydrological studies to assess site conditions.
• Assist in the development of foundation and structural designs tailored to project requirements.
• Identify and implement improvements in design documentation and engineering workflows.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to meet project deadlines and performance expectations.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control protocols for all design outputs.
• Support the broader engineering team with technical documentation and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years in civil or structural design for infrastructure or energy-related projects (renewable or thermal).
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes, NTC (Norme Tecniche per le Costruzioni), and other relevant national/international design standards.
  • Understanding of geotechnical, geological, and hydrological assessment methods.
  • Experience in foundation and structural design for large-scale projects.
• Software Proficiency:
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and PVCase.
  • Experience with additional tools such as Bentley MicroStation, STAAD Pro, Revit, or ETABS is a plus.
• Language Skills: Native or fluent in Italian; good command of English.
• Other:
  • Operational independence and ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Being a chartered engineer in Italy with the ability to sign technical documents is a plus.
  • Familiarity with civil engineering components of grid connection infrastructure for PV/BESS is advantageous.
