The Laimburg Research Centre is the leading research institute for agriculture and food quality in South Tyrol (Italy). We operate mainly in applied research with the aim of increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of South Tyrolean agriculture and of ensuring the quality of agricultural products.

For the research project RADAR “Recognition And Detection of AlternaRia Mycotoxins in Apples” the Laimburg Research Centre, working group “Laboratory of Residues and Contaminants” in collaboration with the South Tyrolean company VOG Products and thanks to the support received from Fusion Grant program is looking for: 1 researcher (f/m/d) (code RAD.24-RL-02.46).

The project aims to study the relationship between the fruit quality of apples intended for food processing and the presence of Alternaria mycotoxins. The research is conducted in collaboration with a local company working in the field of fruit processing.

Responsibilities

  1. Development of an analytical method based on LC-MS for the quantification of mycotoxins in food samples.
  2. Method validation according to ISO 17025.
  3. Managing samples collection in collaboration with the project partner and the subsequent analysis.
  4. Elaboration of the data obtained and their presentation (conference and/or scientific paper).

Requirements

  1. Completed university studies of at least four years attested by a diploma in chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, natural science or similar.
  2. Maximum age 40 years (born after 01/01/1984).
  3. PhD title (study completed within April 30th, 2025).
  4. Knowledge of Italian or German (will be evaluated during the interview).
  5. Availability to start work before April 30th, 2025.

Desired additional competences constituting evaluation criteria:

  1. Experience in the field of residues and contaminants analysis in food matrixes.
  2. Research experience or relevant work experience.
  3. Publication record with particular focus on analytical chemistry and food contaminants.
  4. General knowledge in analytical chemistry or food processing.
  5. Good knowledge of spoken and written English.

Workplace: NOI Techpark in Bozen/Bolzano.

Contract duration: full time, 12 months with possibility of extension.

They are full-time positions at Laimburg Research Centre. The regular place of work will be the NOI Techpark in Bolzano/Bozen.

Classification is based on the category "employee" according to the Agricultural collective agreement. The contract may be renewed if at that time the project will be renewed and/or funds will still be available, within the limits of the legal provisions at that time.

General requirements for admission to the proceedings: full possession of the political and civil rights, full possession of the legal conditions and permits allowing an employment relationship in Italy, no criminal convictions or legal proceedings for criminal offences, which are incompatible with employment at the Laimburg Research Centre.
