Description of the research activity:

The fixed-time research assistant contract is part of 'FArmer robots: safe, sustainable and efficient precision agriculture in highly Challenging Environments (FACE)', Fondo per il Programma Nazionale di Ricerca e Progetti di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale (PRIN). Finanziamento del Ministero dell’Università e della Ricerca - Bando PRIN 2022 SCORRIMENTO D.D. 1401 del 18-09-2024.

The objective of the FACE project concerns the next generation of robots for agriculture, where it will be fundamental to address the challenges, which are still open, towards safe and efficient implementation in highly challenging environments (e.g. steep and uneven terrain).

Activities planned in the project are:

  1. Development of dynamic stability criteria and anti-tip indicators for autonomous driving robotic systems.
  2. Development of methodologies and technologies for the awareness of the state of traction, terrain and stability in articulated robotic platforms.
  3. Development of anti-rollover systems/methodologies for articulated robotic platforms.
  4. Experimental validation of the developed methodologies.
