THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine research unit is seeking an outstanding postdoctoral fellow to conduct basic and translational research on novel chemo-immunotherapies and their delivery via biodegradable, implantable polymer systems for the treatment of high-grade gliomas.
This position offers the candidate a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of different disciplines, including nanotechnology, drug delivery, bioinformatics, and neurotechnology. The fellow will be involved in the fabrication, in-vitro, and preclinical validation of biodegradable polymer depots for the intracranial, sustained delivery of complex therapeutic combinations. The candidate will also familiarize with computational tools to identify novel drug-disease interactions and repurpose small molecules and natural compounds to address the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment in gliomas. Additionally, neurodevices will be used for monitoring disease progression and detecting local inflammatory conditions.
The successful candidate will work primarily in the Nanotechnology for Precision Medicine research unit under the supervision of Dr. Paolo Decuzzi, while closely collaborating with researchers from the Synthetic and Systems Biology for Biomedicine research unit, led by Dr. Velia Siciliano, and the Microtechnology for Neuroelectronics research unit, led by Dr. Luca Berdondini.
The position is for an initial 2-year term, renewable for an additional 2 years.
