Job Description

The Plant General Manager, reporting directly to the Group CEO will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Direct and manage plant operations for R&D, production, maintenance, quality, and admin
• Coordinate multi-plant activities to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Lead directly a team of 4 functional managers and foster a cooperative and communicative environment
• Implement cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries
• Establish and monitor overall plants performance for production, quality and delivery standards
• Lead all HSE initiatives and prioritise a safety first environment
• Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or adjust plant facilities and equipment when necessary
• Provide leadership and training to accomplish company goals and objectives.
• Incorporate shop floor organisation and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate has a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, a solid Continuous Improvement experience, natural leadership, and a proven track record as GM in mid-sized Entrepreneurial companies or as Operations Director in bigger ones.

Proven experience in a managerial role within an Injection, molding or similar industry in the province. Proficient knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning).

Strong understanding of safety and equipment maintenance procedures. Ability to effectively communicate with staff and upper management. Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
