Our Manufacturing Plant located in Pioltello (Milan – Italy) is the European leader in the production of cables dedicated to Automation and other segments like Wind Turbine, Healthcare and Automotive markets.

Information about the department and the position.

The Plant Controller supports Business Managers in identifying performance drivers and in defining & monitoring action plans to reach strategic targets. He or She has the responsibility to protect the Group’s best interests by challenging business assumptions & decisions, by implementing Group initiatives & policies and by deploying appropriate financial processes and internal controls in coordination with the country/BU CFOs. Nexans needs to ensure compliance with accounting standards and other regulatory requirements and that business decisions are properly translated into local processes and tools. The controller manages and oversees the monthly closing process and activities, and provides all needed analysis to explain main variations vs forecast and budget. Maintaining a strict control on fixed costs evolution, maintaining a strict control on Operating Working Capital and Cash performances through the optimization of Inventory, supporting management team to find saving/optimization initiatives, reducing overdues and receivables exposure and managing in a proper way the Payable phasing are the critical activities performed by our controllers. The managed scope is the productive facility of the group based in Pioltello, Milan.

The Controller will need to coordinate with the Italian CFO and administration team, the Business Leaders (Plant manager, BU Leaders), with the Function Leaders of the plant to ensure to be all able to achieve the business targets.

Responsibilities and tasks

• Perform monthly closing for Group scope (material ledger, P&L, BS, OWC, Cash) in a timely and accurate way;
• Perform yearly closing for Group scope (material ledger, P&L, BS, OWC, Cash) in a timely and accurate way;
• Support Corporate team for specific analysis requested and submit analysis to them to explain P&L / OWC / CASH deviation between actual and Forecast;
• Support CFO and Finance Team for the yearly closing for local GAAP;
• Prepare month-end posting and ensure reliability between data declared at group level and SAP data;
• Support CFO and accounting department in BS reconciliation and maintain clear and clean accountability;
• Support CFO and accounting department plant manager in case of internal/external audit, tax audit and other analysis requested from external authorities;
• Prepare and articulate analysis on fixed cost evolution and comparison vs budget and forecast, explaining main deviation reasons. Share and discuss analysis, collaborate in proposal of an improvement plan with other key functions (department manager, plant manager, management BU) and monitor the execution of actions;
• Prepare and articulate analysis on manufacturing variances and comparison vs budget and forecast, explaining main deviation reasons. Share and discuss analysis, collaborate in proposal of an improvement plan with other key functions (production, R&D, engineer) and monitor the execution of actions;
• Prepare and articulate analysis on OWC and Cash generation, pushing all company department in finding actions to improve in a sustainable way the cash flow generation and coordinate the actions and the follow up;
• Maintain constant collaboration with all other departments to improve internal processes and SAP routines;
• Support local and group management in developing analysis to trace, explain and improve main KPI related to P&L, OWC and Cash;
• Maintaining Compliance with Corporate Requirements;
