Are you interested in reducing waste in Amazon’s supply chain? If packaging waste makes you cringe, Amazon’s global packaging organization may be the place for you. As part of the Packaging Lab team, this position is primarily responsible for testing packages in accordance with documented laboratory processes that simulate the Amazon fulfillment network.
They are also responsible for reviewing 3rd party test reports from other labs, recording test results, and communicating with both internal and external stakeholders regarding testing. These tests are part of the Frustration Free Packaging Program, and help Amazon validate when a product can be safely shipped without the need for additional packaging.
This position is within the Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging Organization and the work directly impacts global packaging automation and sustainability goals, in support of Amazon’s Climate Pledge. Packaging Lab Technicians also support various packaging and automation/robotics requests, including travel to fulfillment centers and corporate offices.
The ideal candidate is comfortable with sustained physical activity and operating machinery, but also comfortable with sitting at a desk for long stretches. They deal well with ambiguity, and exercise good judgement and bias for action. They are mentally flexible, adapt quickly to changing workflow and priorities, and view new tasks as growth opportunities.
When new equipment is installed, they read the manual and are excited to learn how to use and maintain the new asset, and are curious about how it works. They earn trust with their team, and demonstrate ownership over the lab as a whole, not just their individual work.
They look around corners, and call out barriers before they become larger issues. Most importantly, they thrive in a support environment, and obsess about both internal and external customer experience.
