Optical Engineer

Job Summary: We are looking for a Process Engineer responsible for supporting the optimization of the optical processes. He/she will interact with manufacturing technicians, quality engineering, configuration managers, and test engineering. The Process Engineer will design and develop manufacturing processes, guide the manufacturability of new product designs, and investigate and implement continuous improvement opportunities. This position has direct responsibility for manufacturing and facility effectiveness.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Drive the improvement of the optical processes currently used in the manufacturing production line by designing, executing, and analyzing dedicated tests.
2. Draw conclusions based on solid statistical analysis.
3. Support the qualification of new optical processes/equipment/technology.
4. Implement procedures related to the improved processes and monitor their application.
5. Support the implementation of Statistical Process Control on critical Key Process Indicators and monitor over time.
6. Contribute to the deployment of Root Cause Analysis by interacting with design, data analysis, and production engineers, and by proactively analyzing data to drive conclusions for improvement.
7. Provide support for physical and functional configuration audits.
8. Support the production team in designing and continuously improving manufacturing processes to enhance yield, cycle time, and productivity.
9. Execute and lead processes for eliminating losses through effective problem-solving, focusing on cost reduction and opportunities.
10. Promote preventive actions to avoid potential failures by supporting the deployment of PFMEA Analysis.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required Skills:

1. Master’s degree in technical studies (Physics is preferred).
2. Solid foundation in optics with special emphasis on fiber optics technology and related processes.
3. Basic knowledge of electro-optical components.
4. Basic knowledge of statistical data analysis techniques.
5. Strong aptitude for data analysis and problem-solving.
6. Basic knowledge of Python.
7. Good proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
8. Fluent in Italian and English.
9. Good communication skills.
10. Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 9100.
11. Teamwork-oriented attitude.

1. Basics of Statistical Process Control Techniques for Design of Experiment.
