EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Essential Qualifications/Experience:
Industry Certification from CISCO at least equal to a CISCO Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and/or Relevant University Degree and/or 3 years of experience performing similar duties
Experience supporting and troubleshooting of L2/L3 Network Environments
Experience with managing firewalls including configuring and updating access and filter lists and troubleshooting connectivity issues
Knowledge of hardware installation (cabling, racking, labelling, upgrading, maintaining, troubleshooting…)
Hands on experience and good understanding of network protocols and equipment
Experience with packet capture and traffic analysis
Experience with configuring and managing VPNs
Experience in documentation of solutions, maintaining user/administration guides and step-by-step instructions
Good understanding of Windows and Linux network stack
Experience with industry standard network management tools (e.g. SolarWinds, Splunk, etc...)
Experience with operating a Virtual Network Environment
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Hands on experience with application layer firewalls
Security certifications, such as CEH, ComTIA sec+ or equivalent
Experience with other network devices (e.g. data diodes, SATCOM)
Knowledge of the principles of command and control (C2) systems
Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements
Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT
DUTIES/ROLE:
Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations
Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and other network problems
Replacing faulty network hardware components when required
Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made
Conferring with network users about solving existing problems
Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems
Coordinating and configuring computer network access and use
Configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software
Administering Wi-Fi network, resolving issues and responding to technical and security incidents
Management of network firewalls and boundary security devices, client VPN
