From October until December 2025, we are looking for students or recent graduates eager to gain experience as assistants in a museum famous for guarding a manuscript considered one of the most precious in the world, inscribed by UNESCO in the "Memory of the World" list in 2015.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will support the museum staff in various activities such as:
- Managing the museum during opening hours
- Staffing the ticket office, bookshop, and other facilities
- Running guided tours within the museum in English and their native language
- Supporting educational activities, presentations, and workshops
- Translating brochures, catalogues, and museum information into their native language
- Creating and developing educational resources for visitors, schools, families, and special interest groups
- Collaborating in the organization of events such as seminars, conferences, and exhibitions
SKILLS
You'll need to have:
- An educational background in history, art and cultural heritage, or related disciplines
- Experience in managing educational activities with children and teenagers
- Creativity to develop new art initiatives and workshops
- A strong ability to communicate both verbally and in written form with visitors of different ages, interests, and backgrounds
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team setting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the Internet for research
- Proficiency with digital technology and social media, mobile devices, and other relevant media
WHAT TO EXPECT
- You'll typically work 24 hours per week, with flexible shifts of 4 hours per day

Additional Information
The museum is located in the area of Rossano, also known as the "Byzantine Pearl" of Calabria, which, besides its cultural heritage, attracts many tourists thanks to its 35 km of sea coast and splendid mountains nearby. The Museum is managed by "Insieme per Camminare", a cultural association that regularly offers guided tours in the whole plain of Sybaris and organizes exhibitions, conventions, concerts, presentations of books, and educational activities in the museum spaces.
