Mechanical Engineer

My client is seeking a strong Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of mechanical systems and equipment for specialized chemical and powder-handling plants. This role is ideal for someone with experience in complex mechanical design, equipment integration, and supplier collaboration, as the company does not manufacture internally but works closely with a global network of external suppliers and partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical components, systems, and layouts for customized process equipment, including reactors, conveyors, dosing systems, and powder-handling machinery.
• Collaborate with external suppliers for component manufacturing, equipment fabrication, and assembly coordination.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, BOMs, and specifications for mechanical systems and subassemblies.
• Participate in plant layout development, equipment selection, and packaging of complex mechanical systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and client-specific requirements.
• Conduct technical evaluations of supplier proposals and support procurement with engineering input.
• Support site installation and commissioning, including remote troubleshooting and supplier liaison.
• Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering documentation processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical design for process equipment, chemical plants, or industrial machinery.
• Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) and mechanical calculation tools.
• Understanding of material selection, pressure systems, and mechanical integration in industrial settings.
• Experience working with or managing external suppliers, fabricators, or OEMs.
• Familiarity with design standards (e.g. ASME, PED, ATEX) and safety-critical environments.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
