The Underwriting Manager mission is to take the lead on all the key aspects of the underwriting operations in the Country in accordance with the regional and divisional guidelines. This includes but is not limited to portfolio profitability, account pricing, portfolio rate change, renewal retention, marketing, new business production, development of staff and broker and client management.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

1. Executing departmental strategy and achieve P&L metrics.
2. Leading and developing a team of Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters.
3. Managing insured and producer relationships across large geographical territory.
4. Maintaining visibility in the market by aggressively marketing to insureds and brokers.
5. Leadership responsibilities.
6. Operational responsibilities.
7. Continuous improvement.
8. Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure and premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
9. Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
10. Seeking, identifying and developing opportunities for profitable business with new and existing customers.
11. Developing relationships with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are achieved and personally getting to know and being known by brokers, clients, risk managers and account managers.
12. Strongly collaborating with the Distribution Team by providing an effective and efficient service.
13. Developing the portfolio whilst maximizing profitability by making decisions and recommendations to assist in the development and control of profitable underwriting and monitoring of performance of products and/or schemes and portfolios in accordance with AXA strategy and business plan.
14. Supporting others by providing technical training and coaching on a day to day and, as required, more formalized basis.

You will report to Country Manager Italy.
