Job Description
Main scope of the position/ responsibilities:
The Manager, PPI Business System at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. has a vital role in improving efficiency through Operational Excellence and Lean Transformation. This position is crucial in achieving productivity targets and implementing PPI activities successfully. You will collaborate closely with the Site Leadership Team and other departments to nurture a culture of excellence.
Assignments, specific/primary activities:
- Deliver outstanding results by leading change in both people’s and the factory approach.
- Advocate for lean principles and Operational Excellence standard methodologies across all functions, supporting business growth through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement lean culture and Operational Excellence tools via comprehensive training and engagement activities.
- Facilitate fast-track implementation and support skill-building to achieve breakthrough financial and efficiency results.
- Develop a pool of future leaders, ensuring continuous professional growth for directly subordinated employees. Provide technical mentorship and optimize knowledge transfer.
- Craft and implement an Operational Excellence strategy aligned with site and company objectives.
- Contribute to financial savings through debottlenecking and cost reduction initiatives.
- Manage PPI Specialists’ priorities and eliminate bottlenecks to ensure seamless deployment of the lean Operational Excellence program.
- Work on ambitious projects and timelines to achieve savings and efficiency targets, collaborating across site functions.
- Guide and supervise PPI Specialists in completing process improvement initiatives across Operations and supporting functions.
- Support Operations transformation in collaboration with the Site Project Lead, defining process capabilities, assessing gaps, and developing closure plans.
- Ensure alignment with central initiatives in collaboration with the Director of Program Realization.

Internal: All functions: from shop floor operators to site leadership team
External: Corporate Functions, Employees from other Thermo Fisher Scientific sites, Customers, Consulting firms
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business, or equivalent experience in a similar role
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Sciences, or Business
Technical and PC knowledge:
- Excellent knowledge of continuous improvement and manufacturing principles
- Expertise in Project Management
- Strong problem-solving and team-working attitude
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Excellent presentation skills
- Previous experience in a people manager role
- Familiarity with GMP
- Knowledge of statistical tools
Professional Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in continuous improvement roles in manufacturing sites
- Proficiency in English and Italian
