What will you be doing?

• Operate computer numerically controlled horizontal lathe, mills, or turning centers to perform machining operations such as turning, boring, facing, and threading parts after setup and approval by Quality Assurance.
• Read process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine operating requirements.
• Mount work piece between center in chuck or in collect.
• Depress buttons, toggles, and start machining operation.
• Observe displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments.
• Perform spot checks for conformance to specifications per instructions on router of Supervisor or Quality Control.
• Complete all in-process inspection requirements. Operate another machine during computer-controlled machining cycles when necessary and feasible.
• Machine metallic and nonmetallic materials and deburr products as needed.
• Mark and/or tag nonconforming material and place them in designated areas.
• Tag and/or mark completed material and move products to appropriate areas.
• Monitor coolant fluid levels during machine operation.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or on-the-job training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
• Regularly required to stand, use hands, fingers, and wrists in repeated movements.
• Frequently required to walk, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and/or legs.
• Occasionally required to sit, talk, and hear.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
