Junior IT Support Specialist

Job Description:

MainStreaming is at a scale-up stage; We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior IT Support Specialist to join our dynamic IT team. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to start their career in IT and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, professional environment. The Junior IT Support Specialist will provide technical support to end-users, assist with maintaining and troubleshooting hardware and software, and ensure the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Support
    • Provide first-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues in a timely manner.
    • Document and track support requests using a ticketing system.
  2. Hardware and Software Maintenance
    • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, printers, and other peripherals.
    • Support the deployment and upgrade of software applications.
    • Perform routine maintenance and updates on IT equipment.
  3. Network Support
    • Help monitor and maintain local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN).
    • Assist with basic network troubleshooting and connectivity issues.
    • Support the implementation and maintenance of network security measures.
  4. User Training and Support
    • Provide basic training to end-users on software applications and IT systems.
    • Create and update user manuals and technical documentation.
    • Assist in the onboarding process for new employees by setting up IT accounts and providing necessary training.
  5. System Monitoring and Reporting
    • Monitor system performance and report any issues to senior IT staff.
    • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of data backup and recovery procedures.
    • Generate and maintain IT-related reports and documentation.
  6. Administrative Support
    • Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including hardware and software licenses.
    • Assist with the procurement of IT equipment and supplies.
    • Support IT projects and initiatives as directed by senior IT staff.

Qualifications

  1. Education and Experience
    • Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
    • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or equivalent are a plus.
    • 1-3 years of experience in IT support or a related field.
  2. Technical Skills
    • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking.
    • Familiarity with Windows and Mac operating systems.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft administrative tools, MDM for Windows and Mac devices, AntiVirus, Password manager.
    • Skills in ticketing tools: Jira Service Management, and remote assistance: TeamViewer.
    • Understanding of common office software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, email clients).
  3. Soft Skills
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Good knowledge of the English language, both at a technical and relational level.
