Job Description:

Nature and aim of the position

The holder of this position reports to the Local Finance and Administration Manager and is responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger, and preparing month-end close procedures.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Analyse financial information and summarize financial status
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
• Provide technical support and advice on Management Accounting
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecasting process
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Plan, assign and review staff’s work
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Handle all other local administration-related matters

Specific skills and knowledge

• MS Office knowledge
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
• Work independently to complete assignments
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Awareness of business trends
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail a must

Education and qualifications

• University degree in Economics, Accounting or Finance
• 1 to 3 years’ work experience in a similar position
• Proven experience in local statutory accounting is a must
• Strong team player
• Autonomous, independent, goal-oriented and self-motivating personality
