Italian speaking Accounting Specialist

A Japanese trading house is currently recruiting an Italian speaking Accounting Specialist to work in their Milan office.
You will be responsible for managing accounts payable and receivable, producing financial reports, analysing financial information, providing technical support, and overseeing accounting assistants.

The ideal candidate should have proven accounting experience, knowledge of GAAP, proficiency in accounting software, and advanced Excel skills.

WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday, flexible working twice a week
SALARY: Up to €38,000 per annum, plus 10% annual bonus

Accounting Specialist Main Responsibilities:

1. Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
2. Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
3. Analyse financial information and summarize financial status
4. Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
5. Provide technical support and advice on Management Accountant
6. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
7. Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
8. Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
9. Provide input into department’s goal setting process
10. Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
11. Assist with tax audits and tax returns
12. Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
13. Plan, assign and review staff’s work
14. Support month-end and year-end close process
15. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
16. Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
17. Liaise with our Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to improve financial procedures

Accounting Specialist Ideal Candidate:

1. Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, chief or senior accountant
2. Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
3. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
4. Familiarity with financial accounting statements
5. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
6. Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
7. Accuracy and attention to detail
8. Awareness of business trends
9. Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
10. Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
11. Business level fluency in English
