Description
We offer an autonomous and highly technical traineeship focused on industrial design for the Plantiverse project. The selected candidate manages the design and development of a new box for our multispectral devices. Working closely with a senior designer who provides limited guidance, the trainee handles the entire design process—from concept development, through material research, to final prototyping and 3D printing. The role requires advanced skills in CAD design, material analysis, and prototyping for FABLAB 3D printing.
Candidates' Ideal Profile
Educational Background
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Skills
- Extensive experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino) for industrial design.
- Strong expertise in 3D printing and prototyping, specifically for functional and durable designs.
- In-depth understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, especially for use in product development and rapid prototyping.
- Familiarity with FABLAB environments and 3D printing technologies is a strong plus.
Learning and Development
- Interest in applying industrial design skills to real-world projects, especially in designing innovative, functional enclosures for high-tech devices.
- Ability to manage complex projects independently, with minimal oversight, while maintaining high attention to detail and quality standards.
Collaboration and Communication
- Strong ability to communicate design concepts clearly, both visually and verbally.
- Excellent collaboration skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product developers.
Daily Tasks
- Independently design and develop a new enclosure for Plantiverse’s multispectral devices, optimizing for functionality, durability, and manufacturability.
- Conduct thorough material research to select the best options for 3D printing and ensure product durability in various environments.
- Create detailed CAD models and 3D prototypes, refining the design through iterations based on functional testing.
- Coordinate with the FABLAB to ensure the design is ready for 3D printing and meets production requirements.
- Document the entire design and development process, creating clear guidelines for future iterations and providing feedback for continuous improvement.
