The Role:

Condé Nast Italy is seeking a Head of Editorial Content (HoEC) responsible for leading WIRED Italy to create and champion content that explores the multifaceted experience of Technology, Innovation and Digital. The Head of Editorial Content will oversee local content across print, digital, video, audio and social, and be the market’s key liaison within WIRED’s global network, reporting to and acting as a key strategic partner to the Global Editorial Director. They will develop strategies to drive editorial excellence, audience growth, and revenue, contribute ideas for local and global editorial projects, and bring regional expertise to global projects. The HEC is a senior and public-facing role, and the successful candidate will play a crucial part in representing the brand both within the company and externally to the industry. They will act as a spokesperson for the title, establishing an authentic voice that resonates. They will bring extensive experience across all platforms, be a prominent figure in video content and social media franchises, bringing energy, knowledge, and a relatable presence to engage with and expand the audience.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with WIRED’s global leadership to align and execute the global strategy locally.
  • Set and oversee WIRED’s digital editorial direction and strategy across site, social and video (aligned with overall global priorities) to grow audience and drive digital revenue
  • Manage, lead and inspire the Italian Editorial team. Oversee the day to day digital output from WIRED Italy, feature in franchises across social, site and video and lead a team of content creators
  • Contribute story ideas, talent, and strategic insights to all global editorial projects, including content shared across the digital network
  • Work closely with Operations to plan and manage editorial content budgets for digital, video, and social
  • Cultivate storytelling and internal talent to drive growth and engagement across all platforms.
  • Act as the key contact for WIRED’s editorial team within the local operation
  • Have a strong commercial understanding, and work hand in hand with the commercial team to identify and collaborate on revenue-generating opportunities that align with WIRED’s editorial line and values
  • Act as the in-market brand ambassador, hosting events, providing creative direction and liaising with clients as required.
  • Nurture talent and foster a transparent, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team environment

Primary Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience leading teams in digital, social, video media - ideally in a global company
  • Working professional proficiency in Italian and English, written and spoken
  • A passion for innovation, storytelling and a strong on-camera presence
  • Strong understanding of the Italian market’s Tech, Innovation, Digital, Start-up, Health industry
  • Extremely strong editorial skills and experience assigning and editing multi-platform content and working to strict deadlines
  • Proven leader with the ability to empower, mentor, and inspire a nimble editorial team
  • Creative and innovative thinker who will bring inventive new ideas to editorial development
  • Robust network of contacts within the Tech, Innovation, Digital industries as well as relationships with enterpreneurs, celebrities, activists, artists, and other innovators
  • Strong business acumen, networking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to guide a team toward achieving business goals
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with a focus on new opportunities for events, stories and areas for audience growth
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
