Group/Division

The Customer Engagement (CE) team is our field-based, customer-facing organization consisting of Technical Engagement Managers and Application Engineers. Responsibilities include maintaining strategic client relationships, partnering with our sales team in identifying and closing sales opportunities, ensuring our products meet performance capabilities & expectations, and collecting requirements for future products.

Job Description

We are looking for a FIELD APPLICATIONS ENGINEER to provide technical Applications support for the development and implementation of SFS Division wafer inspection products at customer facilities.

Responsibilities include:

• Technical Support: Driving acceptance of new tools at customer sites. Create recipes for regular production support. Develop Best Known Methods for customer use cases. Train operators & engineers on the equipment. Analyze tool performance and work with KLA CSEs and TSEs on problem solving.
• Project management: Identify and manage priorities and milestones. Develop clear project schedule and track progress. Develop value proposition and project summaries for Executive meetings.
• Communication: Establish regular communication with the customer. Present and highlight the system values for customer use cases. Execute plan of actions and collect data.
• Pre-sale support: Assist sales and marketing in potential opportunities and competitive situations.

Essential Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of Advanced Optics technology, Physics, Material science
• Solid understanding of semiconductor process technologies
• Metrology control technique knowledge
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Project management experience
• Creative thinking approach to customer challenges
• Excellent problem-solving skills

Basic Qualifications:

• Languages: Fluent English (both written and spoken), Italian and French knowledge are a plus
• Master's Level Degree in physics, engineering, electronics, materials science
• 3 years of working experience in semiconductor environment is a plus
• PHD degree or Post-Doctoral research is a plus
• Previous experience as Field Applications Engineer on inspection tools is a plus

What makes this position unique?

The position offers the opportunity to use process knowledge and experience to implement solutions and differentiated use cases along with KLA's tools. Frequent (> 50%) travel across and outside the BU is required. The position can be based in Milan or Catania, Italy.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Level Degree and 0 years related work experience; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 2 years
