Your role and responsibilities
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Leads the design, planning, and execution of tests, controls, verifications, and validations that are directly related to products, systems, or software production and/or delivery processes.
- Coordinates a proper interface between quality control needs and activities for supplier quality, production quality, testing and validation, and engineering, as applicable. Executes and assists in specific quality control-related training, promoting a passion for quality and integrity in all actions, with a focus on result orientation.
- Ensures deployment of metrics and tools related to quality control in incoming items, production, factory, or software test labs, and final inspection quality, as applicable.
- Ensures local organization has necessary hardware and software capabilities to ensure products and systems meet specified requirements and customer expectations, including production measurement and/or laboratory equipment. Ensures quality data is reported and interpreted according to the internal ABB specifications, customer norms, and applicable national and/or global standards while maintaining a high level of integrity.
- Escalates product quality or safety non-conformance cases to relevant stakeholders across the organization.
- Consults with engineering staff to develop test protocols, as necessary, to investigate the integrity of new products or new functionality for existing products. Provides support to other functional teams as needed to establish test protocols and perform inspections.
- Implements and ensures that safety systems are in place, known, and utilized by quality control and testing personnel, resulting in an accident-free workplace, in alignment with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) personnel. Ensures that identified problems related to quality control are understood and evaluated from a customer/stakeholder point of view.
- Works in close collaboration to resolve the problems and ensures they are fully addressed by following robust root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions. Provides feedback and advice to the Engineering/R&D team on improvement opportunities in product and/or process design.

Qualifications for the role
- You possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in scientific, technological or engineering disciplines.
- You have at least 5 years of experience in operational roles as Quality.
- You have a good knowledge of ISO norms and experience in the application of Lean/Six Sigma methodology is a plus.
- You like to think strategically and excel in tactical implementation.
- You have good communications and collaboration skills, strong leadership in managing a team.
- You are at ease communicating in Italian and in English.
