We are now looking for an Expert MBSE to join our Systems Reliability team within R&D and Engineering in Power Supply. This is a unique opportunity to support Wärtsilä's transformation towards a decarbonization path and contribute to a sustainable future while staying competitive in the industry. The position is permanent, and the preferred locations are Trieste (Italy), Vaasa (STH, Finland), and Turku (Finland).
What you will be doing
- Implementing MBSE practices to manage system complexity, improve team communication, and ensure data consistency and traceability.
- Ensuring compliance with regulations and driving innovation through structured and visual approaches to system design and analysis.
- Creating a unified model-based framework that integrates technical, regulatory, and environmental requirements.
- Training and guiding colleagues in adopting MBSE methodologies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and managing system models representing the engine system and subsystems, from design specifications to integration testing.
- Working closely with Engine, Automation Experts, and project teams to ensure system models align with project/product requirements.
- Executing system simulations to evaluate performance, identify risks, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
- Developing guidelines and best practices for using MBSE and simulation tools.
- Acting as an internal expert on these methodologies.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to hold:
- Academic background in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic) or related fields.
- Applicants with an MSc in Physics, Mathematics, or BSc. with extensive work experience will also be considered.
- A Ph.D. in a related topic and additional certifications or training in MBSE will be considered a valuable plus.
The position will require:
- Knowledge of SysML, UML, and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Capella, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with standardized data exchange protocols for co-simulation and model integration.
- Knowledge of simulation tools like GT-SUITE, Simulink, MATLAB, Modelica, and similar.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or other relevant languages.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles.
- Experience integrating subsystems and modeling domains.
The position will also require:
- An interest in internal combustion engines.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in an international environment.
- An analytical mindset with a systematic and curious approach.
In this role, travel is required to meet with our customers worldwide. We hope you will be ready to travel approximately 5%, even though most meetings are held virtually. We do offer a hybrid work setup.
