JOB DESCRIPTION

Within 3D Systems (3DS), the Application Innovation Group (AIG) main task is demonstrating the capability of 3DS products to customers. As an application engineer focused on benchmarking, it will be your responsibility to assist existing and potential customers in realizing their AM products across 3DS’ range of plastic 3D printing technologies (SLA, SLS, MJP, Figure4, EXT).

In this job, you will work with customers and colleagues to define product requirements and collaborate with 3DS’ production sites to get them realized. You will follow up on the execution of the plan and report the results to stakeholders. You will be able to rely on various technology and material experts inside the organization to overcome challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Benchmark application development and support to 3DS customers and sales colleagues across the full range of 3DS plastic technologies.
2. Work closely with customers and 3DS’ commercial teams to understand manufacturing/application use cases. Translate these into requirements and specifications that help proof out technical solutions.
3. Conduct time and cost studies to analyze machine capability for specific customer requests.
4. Manage multiple requests simultaneously and report on their status.
5. Provide feedback on market demand to help manage the printer park.
6. Conduct application training for customers.
7. Assist with customer visits and trade shows.
8. Focus for this position is Italy, but support in other European countries is included too.

Qualifications

PROFILE

1. Bachelor or master’s degree in engineering or equivalent by experience.
2. Experience with Additive Manufacturing.
3. A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.
4. Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
5. Ability to organize your work and set priorities.
6. Proficient in CAD software such as: 3DSprint, Magics, Solid Works or equivalent.
7. Ability and willingness to learn a wide range of technologies.
8. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time for trade shows, customer meetings, support, and training.
9. Excellent knowledge of Italian and English, both written and spoken.
