To drive this mission forward, we are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead and develop forward-thinking material handling solutions, integrating mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering with automation and software-driven solutions.
This Senior Engineer will own the design, development, and implementation of scalable, high-performance logistics and material handling systems. The role will require a strong background in mechanical engineering, automation, system optimization, and controls to enhance the efficiency and reliability of our operations. This role includes global travel, offering a unique opportunity to work in a real international environment.

Base location is flexible between the below options:
London-Milan-Paris-Rome-Berlin-Madrid-Barcelona.

Key job responsibilities

Core Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop engineering solutions for complex material handling challenges, integrating mechanical design, automation, and controls.
2. Improve and develop scalable, efficient machines and processes for large-scale deployments.
3. Lead and coordinate concept and design efforts, including equipment specifications, material flow, safety, ergonomics, and operational needs.
4. Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to create solutions that drive efficiency and scalability.
5. Manage and execute high-visibility projects, influencing stakeholders across business units and regions.
6. Provide technical leadership for large-scale projects, ensuring operational excellence and compliance.
7. Conduct post-mortem reviews on deployed designs to drive continuous improvement.
8. Lead process improvement initiatives, leveraging data analytics, Lean methodologies, and Six Sigma principles.
9. Maintain technical specifications, SOPs, and operational guidelines.

1. Develop and maintain control system specifications for material handling and automation projects.
2. Integrate mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring seamless hardware and automation interaction.
3. Collaborate with controls engineers and software developers to optimize automation strategies.
4. Implement PLC-based control systems, HMI/SCADA interfaces, and industrial network communication.
5. Support troubleshooting and optimization of automation equipment to ensure high uptime.
6. Implement robotics and AI-driven automation solutions to enhance efficiency.

1. Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
2. 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in mechatronics engineering, logistics, or manufacturing environments.
3. Expertise in mechanical design, automated material handling equipment, robotics, and high-speed manufacturing systems.
4. Strong background in control systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation.
5. Experience using AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project, and simulation tools.
6. Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex, multi-site initiatives.
7. Excellent technical writing skills for specifications, technical documents, and process documentation.
8. Ability to travel up to 20% for interactions with business and technical leaders in North America, Europe, and Asia.

1. Experience with logistics, production business models, and process automation.
2. Background in innovation, R&D, and technology development for industrial applications.
3. Understanding of Lean principles, Six Sigma, and advanced process optimization techniques.
4. Experience in mentoring junior engineers and fostering technical excellence.
5. Fluency in additional European languages (Italian, German, French, etc.)
