The Eurac Research Institute for Applied Linguistics in Bolzano/Bozen (Italy) is looking for an expert in statistical analysis to collaborate on the KOLIPSI 3 project starting in October 2025 and throughout the duration of the research activities (winter/spring 2027).

By gathering data on the second language proficiency of South-Tyrolean high school students and the psychosocial factors which may influence language outcomes, the project aims at advancing knowledge of the delicate mechanisms of second language learning in South Tyrol and to provide food for thought for decision-makers in school policy, but also for families and students themselves.

The expert in statistical analysis will be responsible for data quality control and statistical analysis. The position requires a highly autonomous, but also interactive and communicative attitude.

Tasks

• to set up the single matrix for the analysis of linguistic and psychosocial data;
• to carry out and comment on descriptive analyses;
• to implement correlation and regression analyses together with the project members to search for predictors of good language skills;
• to collaborate in results interpretation and scientific report writing within the deadlines set by project leaders.

Requirements

• Degree (Master or equivalent) in Statistics/Data science/Sociology/Psychology;
• Very good statistical and analytical skills;
• Experience in large-scale data analysis (SPSS, R, etc.);
• Possibly good knowledge of both Italian and German, both orally and written;
• Strong ability to work independently but also in an interdisciplinary team;
• Previous experience is an advantage.

We Offer
A contract for coordinated and continuous services Co.Co.Co. - (ex art. 409, co. 1, n. 3 c.p.c.) from October 2025 – until the end of the project (approximately June 2027).
