DevOps Engineer

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), based in Parma, Italy, is looking for a DevOps Engineer (Temporary Agent, Grade AD6).

Are you a dedicated DevOps Engineer with expertise able to integrate several tools into the CI/CD pipeline, ensure security and compliance throughout the development lifecycle, and precisely manage infrastructure as code? Are you able to work under tight schedules, balancing speed and reliability?
The successful candidate will contribute to the success of digital transformation initiatives.
The jobholder will work in the Risk Assessment Services (ENABLE) or in the Management Services (EMPOWER) Departments, focusing on development or maintenance and operations activities.
Your key responsibilities
- Connect product development with operations and production to ensure successful product launches;
- Stay abreast of and adapt emerging technologies such as mobility, native cloud services, and AI/automation technologies relevant for the digitalization of the organization;
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes. Ensure that code changes are integrated and deployed reliably;
- Collaborate with Azure Architect to maintain and version control infrastructure configurations. Using tools like Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure;
- Set up and manage monitoring and logging tools to track the performance and health of applications and infrastructure;
- Analyze logs and metrics to identify and resolve issues proactively;
- Manage and maintain configuration files and settings for applications and infrastructure. Ensure consistency and reliability across different environments;
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build, deployment, and infrastructure;
- Implement and manage version control systems;
- Implement security best practices in the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure. Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce the risk of human error;
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools to support automation efforts;
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure configurations, and operational procedures;
- Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders;
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities;
- Participate in the success of IT service operations or in development initiatives, maintaining high levels of end-user satisfaction.
WHAT ARE THE SELECTION REQUIREMENTS?
You must satisfy the following requirements on the closing date for submission of your application:
I. Eligibility criteria
- Be national of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland or Norway;
- Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
- Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by laws concerning military service;
- Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post;
- Have a thorough knowledge of one of the EU official languages and a satisfactory knowledge of another EU language;
- Meet the character requirements for the duties involved;
II. Selection criteria
The following competencies will be assessed throughout the different phases of the selection procedure:
- At least 3 years of professional experience as DevOps engineer;
- Experience in Azure cloud services scripting and pipelines;
- Experience in designing, implementing, and managing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps;
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform;
- Good knowledge of security best practices;
- Good knowledge of Agile methodologies.
