DATA SCIENTIST WITH EXPERIENCE IN APPLIED MACHINE LEARNING

Fraunhofer Italia is hiring a research data scientist at the earliest possible date.

Fraunhofer Italia, with headquarters in Bolzano (Italy), is hiring a new member for its research group „Machine Intelligence Development“ within the department „Robotics & Intelligent Systems Engineering“. This group focuses on the development of AI-based solutions, mainly (but not limited to) applied to automation technology involving intelligent robots and systems.

Requirements:

• You have a M.Sc. degree in mathematics, statistics, machine learning engineering, computer science or similar.
• You work independently, systematically, and have a high degree of commitment, creativity, and team spirit.
• You have work experience (> 1 year) as a data scientist (applied or research) and in particular ML-based technologies.
• You have strong programming skills in Python with hands-on experience with Machine Learning frameworks e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, and classical “data-science” libraries e.g., Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Seaborn.
• You have knowledge of DevOps practices (at least basic).
• You speak either Italian or German and have proficiency in English.

A desirable plus:

• PhD degree in related fields
• Research background
• You work with LLMs and predictive models

Your job:

Your main activity will involve the development and the design of prototypes and solutions for application in the areas of industrial production plants, automation, and robotics.

On the one hand, the emphasis will be on the development of application-oriented concepts and their implementation in cooperation with clients, and on the other hand, on further expanding the institute's scientific know-how in these areas.

As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will work on various research projects at the interface between science and practice, for both public and private clients.
