Duties

  • Works under general supervision and supervisor is available to provide information or decisions regarding problems that may arise during work; overall work operations are reviewed for status and progress, quality, and guest satisfaction.
  • Cleans rooms, corridors, stairways, and other areas. Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, strips and polishes using light and heavy duty powered equipment and operates industrial equipment to clean rugs, drapes, etc.
  • Performs routine maintenance of equipment and facility cleaning; maintains stock of room and cleaning supplies to perform assigned duties.
  • May make beds and changes linen. Washes walls, windows, blinds and ceiling fixtures using ladders, scaffolds and safety belt and moves heavy furniture.
  • Required standing and walking on hard and carpeted surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items or carts weighing up to 20 to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required standing and walking on hard and carpeted surfaces with some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items or carts weighing up to 20 to 40 pounds, and occasionally over 50 pounds.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed indoors in areas that have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Exposed to dirt and disagreeable odors, vibration from use of heavy equipment, and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions.
  • Care is required to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and when moving heavy furniture and using heavy powered equipment.
  • Appointment subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2-16e and k.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the position.

Qualifications

Must have knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties listed above to include the ability to use and maintain the tools and equipment of the trade, to keep the assigned work area neat and clean, and to communicate both orally and in writing.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE:
Must have the ability to follow instructions and read signs.
Must have a basic knowledge of common cleaning solvents, cleaning tools, and equipment.
Must know the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions, and must be able to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces.
Must be able to troubleshoot, make adjustments, and perform minor repair and maintenance of equipment.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
