The CS Software & Electrical Designer - Packaging will be part of the Packaging Machine Process Excellence & Customer Requests team and the role will manage the quotation and software and hardware development of customer requests.
Key responsibilities:
Analyze customer requests
Customize existing software and develop new solutions on Siemens Simotion PLCs
Perform internal tests for the automation part of the machines, also managing non-standard software
Using Ladder, Motion Control Chart, and Structured programming language
Create software architecture, defining how different parts of the system will interact with each other
Develop the machinery upgrade to be fulfilled
Manage any issues during assembly and testing
Periodic alignment on standardization developments
Conduct feasibility studies and associated costing
Interface with Production, Quality, and Purchasing for the proper realization of sold upgrades
Adapt the equipment to CE and UL regulations
Manage electrical bills of materials, electrical diagrams, and documentation archive also to foreign subsidiaries
Take part in technical meetings with customers/partners to define customizations and exchange information on existing software
Commissioning of systems and handle system issues and specifics at customers’ sites
Provide technical telephone support to field technicians and technical support manager
To succeed in this role you should have:
Degree in Automation, Electronic Engineering or equivalent
Proven experience of at least 7 years
Proven experience with Siemens (PLC and HMI) programming
Knowledge of Ladder, Motion Control Chart, and Structured programming language
Ability to read wiring diagrams
Fluent spoken and written English and Italian; a third language is a plus
Open to travel
Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
Problem-solving skills
Goal-oriented and customer-focused
Able to work under pressure
