We are seeking an experienced Legal Consultant to join our Legal Office (LEG), based in WFP’s Headquarters in Rome, Italy.
The Legal Office is organized in three branches that advise on the various aspects of WFP’s work:
The Legal Consultant will be assigned to LEGC, offering a unique opportunity to work on high impact legal issues that support WFP’s global mission. This dynamic role will be diverse, but primarily focusing on providing comprehensive legal support and advisory services in connection with innovation projects, digitalization, intellectual property rights, emerging technologies, partnerships, and commercial matters.
The Legal Consultant will contribute to the development and implementation of legal frameworks that facilitate WFP’s innovation and technology-driven initiatives, ensuring compliance and facilitating smooth project execution.
While the primary focus will be on supporting innovation and technology-related projects, the Legal Consultant will also be requested to take on assignments in other areas of activity within LEG, based on business needs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education: Advanced university degree in law, or first university degree in law with additional relevant experience and advanced training, preferably with a focus on technology law, private commercial law, or public international law.
Work Experience: At least seven years of relevant professional experience in legal advisory roles, preferably with a focus on technology law and innovation.
Skills:
Languages: Fluency (level C) in oral and written English is required. Fluency (level C) in oral and written French or Spanish and intermediate knowledge (level B) of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese and Russian) is an asset.
