Offer Description

Required research duties: The scientific activity focuses on the study of the structure, physiology, metabolism, functional and comparative genomics of microorganisms, including viruses and parasites. Relevant topics include the natural distribution of microorganisms, the study of the cellular and molecular bases of microbial pathogenicity, their role in the host or the environment, their interactions, and the dynamics of complex microbial communities. Additional areas of interest are microorganism-host interactions, human microbial ecosystems, immune responses to infections, vaccines, antimicrobial drugs and resistance mechanisms, microbial biotechnologies, and their applications in diagnostics, therapy, and prevention. Relevant disciplinary fields include bacteriology, virology, mycology, medical and clinical parasitology, and vaccinology.

Required teaching duties: The teaching activity, in line with the annual program according to the specific University regulations, will deal with courses offered in the three-year, master’s and doctorate programs in the scientific disciplinary sector MEDS-03/A (Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology).
