Subject Matter Expert | Finance & Accounts

The duties and responsibilities of the SME - Finance & Accounts are wide-ranging and may include, but are not limited to:

1. Overseeing and managing all aspects of the finance department, including Finance mailbox monitoring for all day-to-day finance activities execution and delegation.
2. Oversight of the month-end process including ensuring the completion of the general ledger and Balance Sheet reconciliations and production of the P&L statements. Managing the company’s financial systems on XERO software and ensuring proper book-keeping and recording of daily business transactions.
3. Cashflow forecasting & preparation on a weekly basis.
4. Assisting in preparing the annual statutory accounts like Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
5. Liaising with stakeholders and business partners, sharing finance reports and reconciliations.
6. Providing financial advice to managers regarding initiatives to improve the company’s financial performance.
7. Management of qualified accountants and junior team members.

Skills and attributes:

The common skills and attributes required to be successful in this role include the following:

1. Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
2. Strong financial reporting and tax experience; must have a clear understanding of book-keeping, AR, and AP processes.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
4. Confident dealing with senior stakeholders.
5. Ability to solve complex issues.
6. Able to work under pressure.
7. Strong attention to detail.
8. Staff management experience.
9. Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and other accounting packages; candidates with experience in using Xero accounting software will be an added advantage.
