SENIOR, DATA SCIENTIST (MLE)

Walmart's Spark Platform is revolutionizing last-mile delivery by leveraging advanced AI and ML technologies. We are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to develop and optimize predictive systems that estimate delivery times with high accuracy. This role offers an opportunity to work on large-scale, real-time data pipelines and deploy ML solutions that directly impact millions of customers and drivers.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and product teams to scale models into production systems.
2. Design, deploy, and scale machine learning systems to predict estimated delivery times (ETAs) based on dynamic real-world conditions.
3. Work with large-scale datasets, including GPS tracking, order details, and traffic patterns.
4. Design and optimize ML pipelines, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and real-time processing capabilities.
5. Deploy and scale end-to-end models, balancing accuracy and computational efficiency.
6. Ensure models meet business and operational requirements, optimizing for accuracy, latency, and reliability.
7. Explore and integrate the latest AI advancements, ensuring Walmart remains a leader in AI-driven delivery solutions.

What you'll bring:

1. Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or a related field.
2. Proven track record of deploying ML models in production, preferably in high-scale environments.
3. Strong proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or other ML frameworks. Experience with time-series forecasting, real-time data processing, or predictive modeling.
4. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or Azure.
5. Knowledge of big data technologies like Spark, Kafka, and SQL.
6. Proficiency in MLOps practices, including CI/CD for ML pipelines and model monitoring.
7. Knowledge of reinforcement learning or deep learning techniques for sequential decision-making.
8. Strong understanding of DevOps tools and infrastructure automation.
9. Ability to drive projects from conception to production in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
10. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years experience in an analytics related field.
2. Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years experience in an analytics related field.
3. 5 years experience in an analytics or related field.
