Job description

The Audio Visual (AV) Assistant – IT

will be responsible for assisting with AV related operational work at IIHS. This involves video shoots using DSLRs and camcorders in studio and outdoor locations; event shoots, mainly on IIHS locations and occasionally at outdoor locations, involving the use of camcorders and live streaming equipment; and miscellaneous tasks such as maintaining equipment inventory, equipment service and maintenance, data storage management etc.

While the AV assistant will be part of the IT team at IIHS, the role will involve working closely with members of the Media Lab team as well.

This is a contractual position for an initial term of 11 months, renewable on mutual consent.

Activities and Tasks

Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Setting up cameras, lighting, and live streaming equipment for shoots and events;
  2. Coordinating between teams and vendors to ensure smooth execution of events and shoots;
  3. Ensuring the best quality of audio and video recording plus data storage / data capture;
  4. Troubleshooting and fixing issues with equipment and setups;
  5. Servicing and maintaining equipment and managing equipment inventory;
  6. Staying up-to-date with new technology and equipment in the industry;
  7. Learning relevant aspects of live streaming and video switching (vision mixing) as needed for the role;
  8. Following safety guidelines while working with equipment;
  9. Providing support to other IIHS activities including academics, research, training, practice, operations and others;
  10. Participating in all activities of Institution-Building at IIHS; carrying out tasks as assigned by IIHS; and traveling on IIHS work within or outside the country as and when needed.

Structure and Reporting

The AV assistant will be an External Consultant coordinating with the Manager – IT at IIHS and will work closely with both the IT and the Media Lab teams to ensure the successful execution of shoots and events.

Person Specification

We are looking for a self-driven individual who is passionate about Audio Visual work. The ideal candidate should have:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in media production, film, or a related field;
  2. 1-2 years of experience in setting up cameras, lighting, and live streaming equipment;
  3. Knowledge of video switching (vision mixing) would be a plus;
  4. Good communication and coordination skills;
  5. The ability to work in a team and make decisions when required;
  6. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
  7. Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

This is a contractual position for an initial term of 11 months, renewable on mutual consent. This offer is on an exclusive basis, which implies that other professional assignments (whether compensated or not) that bear a potential conflict of interest with IIHS cannot be undertaken.

Location

This position is based in Bengaluru and may entail travel to other locations in India.

Review and Assessment

The role and performance of the incumbent shall be subject to normal review and assessment systems at IIHS.
