As we continue to evolve our HR technology landscape, we are seeking a Head of HR Systems Development to lead the technical development, coding, and deployment of our HR systems. This role will play a critical part in ensuring our HR technology solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs.


Job Summary


The Head of HR Systems Development is a technical leadership role responsible for overseeing all coding and development activities within Organon’s HR systems. This position will lead a team of onshore and offshore software developers, ensuring high-quality development, rigorous testing, and smooth deployment of HR technology solutions. The ideal candidate will act as a technical bridge between HR business requirements and system implementation, ensuring seamless functionality, security, and user experience.


Key Responsibilities


HR Systems Development & Technical Oversight


  1. Lead and oversee all coding, development, and customization activities within HR systems.
  2. Ensure high-quality coding standards, best practices, and security protocols are followed in system development.
  3. Act as the technical subject matter expert, translating HR business needs into scalable and efficient system solutions.
  4. Oversee integration development between HR platforms (e.g., Workday, time management, learning platforms) and other business systems.

Team Leadership & Development Management


  1. Manage and provide leadership to a team of software developers, ensuring delivery excellence.
  2. Define and enforce agile development methodologies, coding standards, and best practices across the team.
  3. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration within the development team.

Quality Assurance, Testing & Deployment


  1. Establish and oversee testing frameworks to ensure HR system changes are thoroughly validated before deployment.
  2. Manage end-to-end deployment planning and execution, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  3. Implement robust change control processes to track and manage system updates.

Technical Support & Issue Resolution


  1. Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving complex system issues.
  2. Ensure HR system performance, security, and compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  3. Partner with IT and HR leaders to enhance system resilience, scalability, and reliability.

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Collaboration


  1. Work closely with HR, IT, Finance, and external vendors to ensure seamless system functionality and user adoption.
  2. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to HR business leaders, translating business needs into technology solutions.
  3. Provide strategic insights on emerging HR technologies and development trends.

Qualifications & Experience


Education:

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, HR Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  1. 10+ years of experience in HR systems development, software engineering, or HR technology leadership.
  2. Proven expertise in HR system coding, development, integrations, and customizations.
  3. Experience leading geographically dispersed development teams in a global environment.
  4. Strong background in HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow, payroll platforms, etc.) and API development.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  1. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, JavaScript, or relevant HR system languages.
  2. Experience with cloud-based HR solutions, system integrations, and automation tools.
  3. Strong quality assurance, testing, and deployment management expertise.
  4. Understanding of data security, compliance, and system scalability.

Soft Skills & Leadership:

  1. Strong project management and change management capabilities.
  2. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  3. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
