Role Summary:
We're seeking a Category Manager - Books to connect with customers, understand demand, and manage the procurement process from order placement to delivery. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects.
Key Result Areas:
- Customer Satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of books to customers.
- Procurement Efficiency by optimizing procurement processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Supplier Management by developing and maintaining the relationships with publication houses and publishers to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing.
Task Assigned:
- Connect with customers to understand their book requirements and demand forecasts.
- Place orders with publication houses or publishers, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Coordinate with publication houses, publishers, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth dispatch of orders to the warehouse.
- Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of book supplies to customers.
- Analyze customer demand and sales trends to inform procurement decisions and optimize stock levels.
- Develop and maintain relationships with publication houses and publishers to ensure reliable supply and competitive pricing.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
Candidate Profile Specifications:
Education: Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in warehouse management, logistics, or inventory control.
Skillset:
- Proven experience in managing book procurement or related categories.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, suppliers, and other departments.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to identify operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM).
- Experience working in a publishing or education industry.
- Knowledge of book publishing and distribution processes.
