Welding Inspector

Reporting to QC Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for supervising all work related to the welding work process both before, during, and after the welding process.

Role Responsibilities

1. Review and explain general arrangement / shop drawing (welding symbol, NDT plan, tolerance).
2. Review documents (WPS, PQR, NDE procedure, certificate of NDE personnel, tool calibration certificate).
3. Qualify new welder and make WPQT referring to the agreed code/standard.
4. Do inspection before welding (check root opening, root GAP, bevel angle referring to drawing).
5. Do inspection after welding (check visual welding, leg length, throat referring to the drawing).
6. Identify visual defects and verify with agreed codes/standards.
7. Inspect and supervise all heat treatment processes.
8. Make DT/NDT request and witness all processes.
9. Issue NCR if any discrepancies are found in the welding process.
10. Make and report visual welding report to QA/QC admin.
11. Make a report on the rejection rate from the welding check results.
12. Comply with and follow the command of the QA/QC supervisor or manager.
13. Coordinate with the HSE Team to ensure that work activities in the work area can run safely and in accordance with company and client requirements.
14. Understand OHS aspects and use personal protective equipment in accordance with procedures.

Role Requirements

1. Have a certificate of welding inspector is a must.
2. Have experience as a welding inspector.
3. Understand material, welding process, and technical drawings.
4. High attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
5. Self-starter, proven track record in organization and coordination abilities.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
