Web Application Performance Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

1. Optimize and maintain the performance of web applications, ensuring fast load times, minimal downtime, and a seamless user experience.
2. Monitor and analyze performance metrics (e.g., response times, throughput, CPU usage) to detect issues and identify opportunities for optimization.
3. Work closely with development teams to improve the efficiency of code, database queries, and system architecture.
4. Implement and conduct performance testing strategies (e.g., load testing, stress testing) to assess the application’s limits and potential bottlenecks.
5. Identify and resolve performance issues related to front-end and back-end components.
6. Utilize caching strategies, CDNs, and load balancing to optimize content delivery and minimize latency.
7. Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to optimize server performance and resource usage.
8. Ensure scalability of web applications to handle increased traffic while maintaining high performance.
9. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and tools in performance engineering and apply them to current projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Proven experience as a Web Application Performance Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or similar role.
2. Strong knowledge of web performance optimization techniques (e.g., code minification, lazy loading, caching, CDN, etc.).
3. Familiarity with performance monitoring tools (e.g., Google Lighthouse, New Relic, Grafana, Prometheus).
4. Hands-on experience in performance testing (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner, k6).
5. Strong understanding of front-end and back-end performance concerns (e.g., JavaScript optimization, API response times, database queries).
6. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and scalable infrastructure design.
7. Proficiency in working with DevOps CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployment and performance monitoring.
8. Ability to analyze and troubleshoot performance issues across all layers of a web application.
9. Experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Nice to Have:

1. Knowledge of web security best practices that impact performance.
2. Familiarity with progressive web apps (PWAs) and optimizing for mobile devices.
