Responsibilities
- Assist all guests, internal and external, in a polite and professional manner and in accordance with Grand Canyon National Park Lodges Mission and Core Values.
- Interview and select staff to fill vacancies within the tour bus unit, including dispatchers, tour bus drivers, and taxi/shuttle drivers.
- Maintain driver files and vehicle records in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Work closely with the related areas to effectively schedule the taxi/shuttle and tour bus staff to meet business demands as well as the budget/plan requirements.
- Work cooperatively with the Automotive Service Manager to schedule maintenance and repairs for the taxi/shuttle and tour bus fleet.
- Submit accurate and timely financial reports and passenger counts.
- Work with the Interpretive Trainer Specialist to provide the required training of the taxi/shuttle and tour bus staff.
- Train and monitor taxi/shuttle and tour bus driver performance to ensure compliance with DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
- Assist with compiling annual rate comparisons and submittals for the purpose of increased profit and proper revenue management.
- Monitor employee performance to provide support, corrective action, and annual performance reviews with the staff.
- Assist in the development and management of the department financial plan.
- Comply with the Grand Canyon National Park Lodges Driver Safety Program.
- Act as a company representative for matters related to the taxi/shuttle and the tour bus fleet operations.
Qualifications
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger and air brake endorsement.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment to prioritize and manage time effectively while managing multiple projects and requests.
- Strong organizational skills with emphasis on ability to properly schedule staff.
- Previous supervisory experience in a transportation services environment with strong knowledge of DOT and FMSCA regulations and requirements.
- Previous experience training drivers and dispatchers in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Strong computer and accounting skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively produce and distribute information to the staff, within the property and to our business partners.
- Willingness to fill in and conduct tours as needed, as well as taxi/shuttle and dispatch shifts.
- Ability to work a varied schedule to include weekends and holidays.
