Job Description
Develop and update Technical Packages for assigned styles/models, ensuring all key requirements are met, with a focus on aesthetics, proportion, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturing feasibility.
Interpret design intent while proposing alternative or enhanced solutions; serve as a technical advisor to HQ partners and Factory Leads.
Oversee and coordinate prototyping for multiple projects, proactively addressing construction, manufacturing, and costing challenges to deliver high-quality products.
Manage several projects with tight deadlines, ensuring efficient time management for both personal and team tasks.
Serve as a technical expert, providing guidance and support to team members and HQ collaborators.
Mentor and coach team members through the creative process, driving the professional development of direct reports.
Collaborate with HQ to support design initiatives for in-line and Special Make-Up designs.
Review and approve samples at each development stage to ensure adherence to design intent.
Contribute to the development of annual and long-term Creative Direction strategies.
Present and clearly communicate creative solutions, effectively advocating for ideas across various stakeholders.
Proactively identify areas for improvement, initiating and leading proposals or projects for change.
Continuously seek new design resources capable of producing industry-leading results.
The Successful Applicant
Design Education: Minimum undergraduate degree in design or related field.
Creative Development: Extensive experience in creating communication tools.
Industry Experience: At least 6-8 years in sporting goods, fashion, or design management.
Design Process: Proven ability to handle the entire design process from concept to production.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of design intent, alternative solutions, and technical aspects.
2D/3D Design: Deep knowledge of 2D and 3D design principles.
Technical Writing: Expert at writing product specifications and construction standards.
Product Development: Strong understanding of product design and development.
Factory Relations: Proficiency in working with factory vendors.
Product Lifecycle: Experience taking products from concept to implementation.
Footwear Knowledge: Preferred knowledge of footwear construction and development.
Market Understanding: Comprehensive understanding of consumer markets, especially in sporting goods.
Color and Material: Knowledge of color trends, compatibility, and placement.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
Digital Design: Proficiency in design software like Adobe Creative Suite and CAD tools.
IT Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Communication: Strong visual and verbal communication skills.
