Role Purpose:

Lead and manage the company's general legal counsel covering a wide spectrum of legal support functions including legal, regulatory & licensing, vendor and customer contracts, risk and compliance capabilities across OnlinePajak’s business and other relevant business.

Responsibilities:

1. Reporting to the CEO of OnlinePajak and responsible for the deliverables and operations of the legal department.
2. Provide expert legal advice to executive and senior management teams, and board of investors on various legal matters.
3. Review contracts, leases, and other legal documents, research legal issues and recommend revisions as necessary, advise on applicable regulatory requirements, resolve conflicts of interest and disputes.
4. Lead, manage and grow a team of lawyers and domain experts split across multiple business units.
5. Provide guidance to product and engineering teams on issues related to new and existing products and features throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
6. Act as the chairperson of the management of privacy by supporting the privacy team in their efforts to comply with applicable privacy/data protection laws and standards.
7. Key member of the Public Policy and Government Relationship committee supporting the engagement and advocacy strategy of the company with the government of Indonesia.
8. Monitor the KRs of the legal department and ensure smooth delivery of service and support within the business.
9. Work with managers of other departments to provide timely support for commercial, product, marketing, tax and other related matters.
10. Act as a thought-leader within the organization.

Qualifications:

1. Outstanding academic records from a top-tier university in Law (MBA/MSc/LLM is a big plus).
2. Indonesian qualified and admitted to at least one other jurisdiction.
3. 12-15 years of post-qualification experience with relevant exposure to the technology/software development industries and at least 2 years of experience as an in-house counsel for a technology start-up.
4. Experience working across different countries in a multi-disciplinary function and multi-cultural environment.
5. Thrive in a fast-paced, intellectually demanding and service-oriented environment.
6. Demonstrated experience bringing cross-functional teams together.
7. Demonstrated ability in managing a team (prior experience managing a multicultural cross-border team a plus).
8. Strong communicator with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Excellent command of English and Bahasa Indonesia.
10. Ability to think creatively, strategically and resourcefully.
11. Attention to detail and ability to adopt the use of legal tech tools.
