Scaffolding Executive

This position is for PaxOcean Group based in Batam, a company under Kuok Group Singapore.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the HT Scaffolding section team and supervise the works being carried out.
• Review all job risks involved and prepare/implement risk assessment.
• Plan yard and subcontractor manpower as per job requirements and take corrective action to ensure safety, quality & productivity.
• Implement safe work practices and continuous improvement on department-related activities.
• Conduct daily meetings and ensure effective execution of all planned works by the team, including subcontractors.
• Develop yard and subcontractor teams for challenging jobs and situations.
• Provide effective solutions for the team and the client regarding scaffolding activities.
• Meet with clients, owner representatives, and paint representatives to understand team performance.
• Conduct regular rounds onboard and in the yard to enforce safety, quality, and productivity among the team.
• Exhibit strong leadership traits and a sense of responsibility and ownership.
• Coordinate and communicate with other project managers, commercial, subcontracting, and procurement departments regarding activities and jobs.
• Be proactive and foresee potential issues, taking corrective measures when necessary.
• Control and monitor yard and subcontractor equipment, machines, and tools to ensure safe operation.
• Estimate different jobs and collaborate with teams and clients during work confirmation.
• Keep records of all activities and update the Head of Department on a daily basis.
• Be available to perform work during extended times and various situations.
• In the absence of the department head/manager, carry out departmental activities and responsibilities effectively.
• Control all scaffolding subcontractors onboard and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
• Ensure all activities are covered under risk assessments, with control measures in place to avoid incidents.
• Follow the NOVADE (PTW) system.
• Monitor timekeeping by the scaffolding workforce.
• Supervise subordinates on work results.
• Ensure resources (manpower, material, time, etc.) are allocated according to job requirements.
• Monitor department man-hour expenditure, including indirect hours, overtime, and days off for workers.
• Conduct frequent audits and document outcomes to verify efforts in productivity, safety, and quality.
• Stop processes that do not meet specified requirements, raise occurrence reports, and develop corrective and preventive actions.
• Motivate, direct, align, and guide the team for optimal performance, providing continuous appraisal and feedback.
• Empower subordinates with tools and techniques for process improvement and follow up on implementation.
• Identify training requirements for subordinates and provide suitable training and guidance.
• Take ownership of the success or failure of individual projects and implement corrective measures to avoid future recurrence.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma or graduation in Naval Architecture, ship construction, shipyard-related, or scaffolding-related discipline.
• Advanced scaffolding supervisor certification and inspection, leadership certification with required experience.
• Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Minimum 10-12 years of experience in shipyards or ship scaffolding-related hull treatment works.
• Fully conversant with Singapore scaffolding standards and PE drawings for shipyards, marine, and offshore vessels.
• Able to understand and estimate jobs, activities, and manhours, and quantify work percentages.
• Good communication skills in written and spoken English, with the ability to plan and coordinate all scaffolding-related activities.
