Position Overview
- The Sales Manager (SM) position manages designated Sales teams and sales objectives within Pharmaceuticals Commercial Operations, Cluster – Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore. He / She leads a sales organization made up of Sales Reps and are accountable for the implementation of brand marketing strategies and activities to meet the commercial objectives of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia cluster’s Pharmaceuticals Business.
- The SM will provide inspirational sales leadership and direction to the salesforce to deliver superior customer experience for our customers and help drive sustainable sales growth through execution excellence and implementation of defined brand strategies. He / She collaborates strongly with Leadership Squads, Portfolio / Brand squads, Customer Engagement Squads and leads in a non-hierarchical agile way to contribute to the growth of the pharmaceuticals business.
- This position will contribute to strategies and business plans for the achievement of overall business objectives. They will assist the Head of Sales in the implementation of Marketing and Sales strategies. They will support and maximize business potential across the following key areas of responsibility:
- Sustainably achieve defined brand / portfolio growth objectives
- Guide and coach Customer Engagement squads to implement 90-day Customer Engagement cycles
- Territory-wise Plan of Action (POA) development
- Campaign Execution supported by Digital and Integrated Multichannel Marketing
- Relay Customer feedback to Portfolio / Brand Squads
- Implement Sales Force Effectiveness and Learning initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- The position acts as a strategic partner to Head of Sales to proactively identify business opportunities, drive the right Resource Allocation and Salesforce strategy to maximize portfolio growth and evolution index. He / She drives best-in-class Executional Excellence, Customer Engagement processes, integrated Multi-Channel (iMCM), and sales force capability development.
Added Objectives
- Drive Commercial execution excellence standards in Cluster.
- Drive the Dynamic Shared Ownership approach applying agile collaboration methodologies, 90-day sprints and agile project management.
- Prepare the business for future challenges and positively impact mindset, culture, business processes, and ultimately top-/bottom-line of PH Cluster – Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
- Increase capability level of Cluster stakeholders.
- Ultimate goal: Maximize the number of eligible patients receiving Bayer PH products in Cluster – Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
Business Management
- Overall accountable for the effective implementation of 90-day Customer Engagement and activation plans for the managed portfolio (launch, foundation, and mature brands) to meet sales expectation versus target, product supply/logistic accuracy and financial accuracy.
- Regularly reviews customer profiling, segmentation and targeting and team structures/roles and responsibilities ensure effective deployment of sales team vis-a-vis opportunities to serve untapped customer and patient populations.
- Communicates well with customers, develops, and maintains healthy network and working relationships with thought leaders and other key stakeholders within the industry.
- Collaborates closely with Portfolio / Brand Squad members to meet shared objectives of maximizing brands market performance and share offtake.
- Consolidates Customer feedback and provides to Portfolio / Brand Squads for adapting Customer engagement plans and campaigns.
S/he builds and maintains relationships with distributors and manages communication and consolidation related to the business needs, business challenges and business opportunities in designed territories.
S/he forecasts sell out and consolidates team, distributor and customers feedback related to stock fulfillment.
S/he is responsible for reviewing and approving marketing activities event both proposal and reports activities from Med. Reps.
Talent Development
- Guide and coach Customer Engagement Squads, Sales Managers, providing timely guidance and feedback to help team members strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas to be successful in their jobs.
- Supports Reps as needed to build effective Territory-wise Plan of Action (POA) that will enable achievement of portfolio growth objectives.
- Role-models what peak performance looks like, using coaching techniques to maximize employee and team performance.
- Embraces inclusion and diversity as an enabler of our performance excellence.
Performance Management
- Lead a Talent Management Strategy to retain, recruit, develop and coach top sales talent.
- Lead performance excellence culture recognizing high performers and managing low performers.
- Holds team members accountable to performance expectations as per Bayer’s Performance Philosophy.

- Understands environment and current situations/market trends to make sound decisions, demonstrates fact-based decision making, able to manage ambiguity and reach logical conclusions.
- Contributes to mid-term outlook for the portfolio to base future investment decisions.

- Proactively input into the strategic direction of the organization working with the Head – Sales and cross-functional teams.
- Contributes to quarterly and annual strategic reviews to align on core priorities to inform investment and resourcing decisions.
Who You Are
- At least 7+ years of pharmaceutical commercial experience in sales and/or marketing across a range of therapeutic areas and across retail and ethical channels.
- 3+ years’ experience in leading sales teams and working cross-functionally with marketing teams.
- Strategic mindset and proven ability to assess external market factors and trends, key growth levers and consequently position the business and strategy to leverage.
- Drives results and acts with a clear sense of ownership, takes personal responsibility for decisions, actions, and failures, has a strong bottom-line orientation, pushes self and helps others to achieve results.
- Manages complexity: acquires data from multiple and diverse sources when solving problems, uncovers root causes to difficult problems, evaluates pros and cons, risks and benefits of different solution options.
